Christmas and new year travel numbers expected to grow slightly

For the holidays end-of-the-year, the Auto Club said the Southland 7.13 million people will travel at least 50 miles, a rise of 1.4% over last year.

Travelers who will take their vacation travel between December 23 and January 2, 90%, or 7.3 million, will be travelling by car. It is an increase of 2.5% from a year ago.

Gasoline prices have been declining in recent weeks. But the price of a gallon of regular gas, hover around $ 3.50-$ 3.65 per gallon in Southern California, was 30 cents higher than this time last year, according to the club car.

Nationally, 91.9 million Americans are expected to start end-of-the-year getaways, as well as increase of 1.4% over last year.
