Holiday buyers back to the store

NEW YORK-for serious Buyers come out more stores last week, after taking a breather from the record spending spree Thanksgiving weekend, according to the size of one.

Sales at stores open at least a year rose 3.4 percent for the week ending Wednesday, compared with the previous week, according to the International Council of shopping centers-Goldman Sachs weekly chain store sales index.

And still more shopping to do. According to the poll of 1,000 shoppers conducted by ICSC and Goldman Sachs, buyers an average of over 70 percent of their holiday buying as a week. That compared with 74 percent at the same time last year. And 9 percent of buyers who did the poll doesn’t even begin to vacation they buy, up from 6 percent last year.
